Greek mythology is the ritual observances of the Ancient Greeks, who became the
first western Civilization about 2000 B.C. It consists mainly of a body of
diverse stories or legends about a variety of gods. Greek mythology became
fully developed by about the 700s B.C. The traditional Greek religion was pagan
polytheism, meaning that it included many gods and other supernatural beings.

The people pleased the gods by sacrificing animals and other kinds of food, or decorating there statues and temples with art, offering prayers, holding festivals, and so on. The gods became angry when the people preformed sacrifices improperly, violated the sanctity of a temple, or broke there sworn word. The Greeks believed that the angry gods inflicted punishments such as famine, earthquakes, epidemics or defeat in war.
